Hello! My name is Amanda, and I am a mother to two amazing girls, ages 3 and 8, and they have become my greatest teachers. I was born and raised in the east bay area. I have a genuine love and appreciation for the outdoors, science and natural history. After 35 years in the bay area, my partner and I decided to uproot and relocate to the charming small gold country town of Pine Grove in the foothills of Amador county. Working part time remotely as a project manager and unsure of my career path, I came across a flier recruiting childcare providers in the county. Inspired by my mom, who had experience operating a home childcare program, I decided to start up a home daycare in 2018 and it was the best decision I ever made. I have had a deep passion for learning and teaching for as long as I can remember. I have fond memories playing school for endless hours as a child with my younger sister. Growing up, I always wanted to be a teacher, but somewhere along the way that dream took a backseat. Developing my own early childhood education program has  rekindled my dream and given me a new sense of purpose.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley, where my focus was on Ecology and Evolution. I bring my passion for the interconnectedness of life to my interactions with children, and I hope to spark enthusiasm and curiosity for life on our planet. I received my Early Childhood Education Site Supervisor Teaching Permit in 2024 and I regularly take ECE courses to continually broaden my understanding of this field. My long term goal is to create an after school or summer science enrichment program.
